VICE News spoke to four people who are on the frontlines of the abortion war. For nearly half a century, Roe v. Wade protected the national right to abortion—but that right was always at risk.

They have endured death threats, arsons, shootings, and even worked in an illegal abortion network to protect abortion rights.
